So where do I call to make that free service call. I purchased the warranty but now how do I use it.

I was told to call the Sears repair man to ask for my annual check-up on my appliances. He tells me that he can't do that without a work order from Sears. I tried to call the number back on my call display but it was not available from my area code. What a joke!

Vera, you may want to ask if there is a payment plan available. This may be an option to make the warranty more affordable.

I have several Items in which I purchased from sears and also have these appliance cover under your appliance warranty, I receive a call from someone that told me that my warranty will expire on sept 7th and to get the same coverage it would cost me $798. I would like to keep my coverage for the same period of time and for all of my appliance's however $798.is just to much for me to pay at this time I have been a customer for approx. 30 years. you should consider the times I do not have a job and my income is fixed so I need a break on my home appliance warranty thanks Vera

Greg, it depends on the appliance purchased. Contact Sears for warranty information specific to your appliance.

Hi, I want to follow up on my extended warranty for an exercise equipment but cannot find my paperwork and phone number to that department. Please have somebody contact me as soon as possible. Thank you!

Kathy,

If you no longer have the sales receipt showing the cost of the extended warranty, you can call Sears and give them the ID number which is probably included on a metal plate somewhere on the item as well as the name and address of the person who purchased the item. They should be able to tell you if there is a current warranty.

How do I find out if I got an extended warrenty on an item?

Dear Mad,

Thank you for taking the time to give your opinion and information on your experience with your Sears warranty.

6_26_09 I have warranty service with sears on all my appliances since 1992. The past two years getting service repairs has been miserable!! On average my washer and Tv both4 years and 2 years old take 6 wks to get parts and service people never no where the parts are shipped to me or store! This sucks they get my money and I do with out DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE I am switching Best buy and many repair services offer same warrenty. Trust me Sears is not what it used to be.

Claudio,

Maria,

The model number and serial number of your stove is printed somewhere on your stove. Here's a good diagram to show you where to look for the information. If you still can't find the numbers, contact your Sears appliance department and ask them where the information is typically located on their gas stove.

-- Contributed by: SusanWeber

I would like to know if your records show the model number for a gas stove that I have. Sometimes I get calls offering extended waranty and i was hoping you had the model and serial number of my gas stove. My name is Maria del Rosario Soto, [personal information deleted] thanks i am trying to purchase the burners

Eddie, contact the merchant to find out about the warranty information. If you purchased the warranty at a Sears store you may have received the paperwork then. If not, you can request a copy directly from Sears.

I purchase your appliance extended warranty this month, received my charge on my credit card today, but have not received any paper work or email regarding what I purchased.

I recently purchased an extended warranty for a kenmore refrigerator and had a terrible experience on having my appliance repaired .Representatives lied to me, giving me wrong dates to expect my refrigerator to be worked on.It was so unprofessionaland gave us so much stress for 10 days

Austin, you may need to be more aggressive in your requests for service. Call again and ask to speak to a manager. If you are concerned about the abilities of the repair facility, contact them directly and ask about their capabilities to repair heating and cooling units.

I bought a ten year extended warranty on my heating and cooling unit. I am into the 9th year. The unit quit on a Saturday night, called Sears Sunday for repair to be scheduled, after making about 10 calls to them, it is now Tuesday night, still no one has called to schedule an appointment. Everyone says they will call me back, not yet. It is winter and no heat! For over $1,000.00 in a warranty fee, I'm pretty upset. I've also found out the local repair facility, they have chosen, mainly deals in washers and dryers. I don't believe they are certified to work on large heating and cooling units, so if anyone does call, they probably won't be able to fix it.

I purchased a Sears, 5 year warranty with my Treadmill. I completely forgot about it the first two years, and then year three... called 18004MYHOME, had them do a Maintenance Check (with a perfectly good treadmill) the technician asked me, "Sam, have you noticed your treadmill getting progressively louder over the years?"

I was confused, seeing no difference in my treadmill (that we use regularly), so I replied... "ummm, sure... why yes, your right!!" The technician said... "Well Sam, I'm gonnna have to give you a new motor, its not working ideally.."

I ended up getting a whole new motor and still have 2 more years on the warranty... it pays itself! Just REMEMBER to get the Free Annual Checkup!

Lynn,

Thank you for detailing your history with warranties on your various Sears appliance purchases. Your experiences seem to point out that, although a warranty will usually save the owner on repair costs, it often takes time and patience to get the resolution you want.

Thanks for your comment.

I bought warranties from Sears for most of my big-ticket applicances including the over-the-stove microwave, the dishwasher and the Kitchen-Aid side-by-side. The maintenance check-up for the microwave was pretty much what I would call pathetic. The "technician" came in, looked it over, boiled a cup of water in it and then left. I let that one expire when it was done - not worth the cost for a $500 item - plus it is now 7 years old and works just great.

My dishwasher (a Kenmore) ended up with issues within the first year. 3 different technicians came out and attempted to repair it. Finally, I insisted that they live by their warranty statemnt and replace the DW in its entirety. It was quite the ordeal trying to get Sears to agree to that one, but they finally gave in (a LOT of phone work on my part with many different Sears Reps none of whom were in Ontario) and replaced it.

Right now, my side-by-side is having an issue with what is apparently an electrical chip of some sort. I had food spoil (which Sears offers up to $250 replacement) AND it is taking over a month to get the part!!!! The technician showed me how I can get a few weeks at a time out of the fridge before it stops functioning again, and then I have to take everything out and defrost, etc, etc.) Not ideal when it is the only fridge in the house and you have two kids, but, I would not want to think what the actual cost to repair the fridge would be without the warranty. I just extended it for another year for $150 because in the case of a $3,500 item like a fridge, I think the warranty is "warranted"!! :)

I recently purchased a front-load washer and dryer at Sears for my new house and got the warranty. Why? It cost over $400 in labor (the parts were still under warranty) to repair my old front-load washer just a couple of months before. The Sears warranty covers labor. In addition, they call each year to remind you that you have the annual maintenance check-up as part of your plan. If nothing else, the warranty is peace of mind.

Marion and Lynn,

It's always a good idea to know the details of your warranty. You might want to schedule a service call to take a look at our appliance while your warranty is still in effect - even if the appliance is working fine now. You sure don't want to get caught with a big repair AFTER the warranty has expired!

Thank you for your question and for visiting LoveToKnow Insurance.
