You should really ask this question of a lawyer. The lawyer will want to review the policies of both the homeowner and the repairman. Additionally, both parties should contact their homeowners insurance agents to review what is included in their policy and its additional clauses.

In new york state, if a person does a plumbing repair for a friend and accidentally catches the home on fire. Can their homeowners insurance sue the repairmans home owners policy holder? The repair man had no insurance of his own , was just helping a friend and does not live near the house he was repairing.
