It is common practice for an insurance company to call a policy owner to check an address before sending an official notification of money available from an insurance policy. For privacy reasons they will not disclose the amount of the policy.

If your sister has a life insurance policy for her grandson, she can contact Gerber and start the procedure to get the proceeds of the policy sent to the beneficiary. She will need to provide the account number of the insurance policy as well as a copy of her grandson's death certificate.

my sister tells one of the family members that she had a life inusrance policy with gerber for her grandson and he passed away several years ago. recently she received a call from gerber saying that the insurance policy is worth alot of money . they could not tell her the amount but will write a letter. is this the way you do business. i am just concerned over this being a scam. thank you louise t. daley
