VPI Pet Insurance
From LoveToKnow Insurance
If your beloved pet needs surgery, X-rays or prescriptions, a VPI Pet Insurance policy can take the sting out of deciding between cost or treatment.
What VPI Pet Insurance Provides
The VPI Insurance website offers a guide to help pet owners understand coverage available and to make an educated decision in choosing the best coverage for their pet's well being. Coverage for the following not only provides the health care solutions your pet needs, but gives you as a pet owner peace of mind knowing that money will not influence making the right decision when your pet incurs an unexpected medical need. VPI coverage manages veterinary expenses as it reimburses pet owners for eligible expenses for:
- Accidents
- Illnesses
- Routine preventive care including office visits
- Lab fees
- X-rays
- Surgeries
- Diagnostic testing
- Prescriptions
- Hospitalization and more
Another advantage to VPI insurance is that owners can take their pet to any licensed veterinarian in the world and still be covered. There is no network of providers or pre-authorization necessary.
Coverage for Cats
Cat owners experience the joys of cat ownership but realize that taking a cat into the family is a big responsibility. Your cat's health and welfare depend on you. Preventive healthcare for cats and kittens includes:
- Regular veterinary exams
- Vaccinations
- Worming and other parasite prevention and control
- Age-based screening panels
- Home health care such as tooth brushing
VPI Pet Insurance gives cat owners the confidence to know that they will be able to meet their cat’s healthcare needs even when the most advanced veterinary treatments are required. A VPI policy prepares for the unexpected and provides help for when your cat experiences an accident or unforeseen illness.
Coverage for Dogs
Through VPI Pet Insurance coverage for dogs, pet owners can ensure that their dog will also receive the most advanced veterinary treatments and procedures available to meet their dog's healthcare needs. Without insurance many dog owners are caught off guard when they are not financially prepared for unexpected illnesses and accidents. Pet insurance coverage allows dog owners to plan for the long-term health of their pets.
Choosing a Plan
Just like healthcare plans for people, VPI includes options. Two are major pet insurance medical plans and the third and fourth are riders available to cover routine care. These plans are:
VPI Superior Plan
The VPI Superior Plan offers pet insurance coverage with the highest reimbursements for major medical events such as surgeries and hospitalization.
VPI Standard Plan
The VPI Standard plan provides insurance coverage with an economical premium. It also covers major medical events such as surgeries and hospitalization. VPI uses a benefit schedule so policy holders can know how much reimbursement is available for a pet’s incidents. This benefit schedule is filed with the Department of Insurance.
Pet WellCare Protection
Pet WellCareProtection is available as a rider to your insurance policy and offers coverage for optional routine care. Routine care includes treatments and visits pet owners include each year:
- Annual checkups
- Vaccinations
- Worming
- Prophylactic teeth cleaning
- Spaying and neutering
Vaccination and Routine Care
In some states the Pet WellCare Protection coverage is not yet available. In those cases, VPI’s Vaccination and Routine Care coverage is offered.
Is Pet Healthcare Insurance Right for You?
Pet healthcare insurance is available to ease escalating pet healthcare costs. The question pet owners must ask themselves is: Is it worth it? Some argue that pet insurance will most likely cost more than it saves. However, just like any insurance whether its car insurance, homeowners, or any other coverage it’s a matter of peace of mind. If you don't take out a policy to cover your vet expenses, then you are gambling against the risk that your total vet expenses will be less than the amount you would pay in premiums and other costs.
