With this short term health insurance plan, you have the option of applying for up to three consecutive twelve-month policy periods – hence the name "12x3 Short Term Medical." In effect, you can extend your coverage for a total of up to 36 months. This is in contrast to other insurance providers who require that you sign up for a new policy if you need to extend your coverage.
This coverage is only available for applicants up to 65 years of age. You can also apply for this coverage for dependent child under the age of 19, or a full-time student under age 25.
Premiums can be paid monthly or in full, and you have the option of canceling your policy at any time. In this case, you will be able to cancel the coverage at the end of any given month within the policy period. If you choose to pay in full for a longer period and then need to cancel the policy before that period is over, you will be denied a refund of your premium.
