Nationwide Insurance
From LoveToKnow Insurance
If you own a television or radio, chances are you've heard the catchy jingle of Nationwide Insurance, Nationwide is on your side... Due to a winning mix of customer service, quality products, and savvy advertising, Nationwide has grown to become one of the largest insurance and financial servide providers in the world.
Nationwide History
The Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance company began in 1925, and provided low-cost auto insurance to the farmers of Ohio. Over the next few years, Farm Bureau Mutual expanded to serve West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Vermont, and North Carolina. By 1934, the company had purchased a fire insurance company and began offering property insurance. It also expanded beyond farm insurance and started serving metropolitan areas as well.
By 1955, the company was serving customers in 32 states. Suddenly, its name no longer seemed appropriate, so Farm Bureau Mutual shed its small-town cloak and became Nationwide Insurance. Over the next four decades, the company continued to grow and expand, opening its International Headquarters in 1978 and launching Nationwide Financial in 1996.
