Nationwide Home Warranty
From LoveToKnow Insurance
Nationwide Home Warranty offers a protection plan for homeowners. It covers appliances and other systems located within the home.
About Nationwide Home Warranty
Nationwide Home Warranty is a well-established home warranty company in the United States. The company was awarded the 2007-2008 Customer Care Award by National Research Corporation, a market research firm. Nationwide was recognized for providing exemplary customer service. The market research firm conducted a survey of consumers who had purchased a home warranty, and Nationwide was ranked highest out of all survey respondents.
How the Plan Works
The idea behind Nationwide Home Warranty's coverage is to protect homeowners and landlords from the cost of repairing or replacing items in the home or rented property. The policy runs for 12 months at a time, and during the time the policy is in force, the insured has coverage that will repair or replace the covered appliance or home system.
Normal Wear and Tear
Nationwide Home Warranty doesn't require a homeowner or landlord to submit to a home inspection before coverage starts. The items in the home when the policy is issued are covered, no matter how old they are or their current condition. If a covered appliance or home system needs repairs due to normal wear and tear, the policy will cover the cost. In a situation where the covered system or appliance cannot be repaired, Nationwide will replace it.
Getting Service
When a policyholder needs service under the policy, they contact Nationwide by calling a toll-free number (1-800-500-2110). The company's claims department is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for the customer's convenience. When Nationwide receives a request for service, they forward it on to a local contractor, who contacts the customer to arrange an appointment.
When the contractor arrives to repair the covered appliance or system, the policyholder pays a trade service fee for the service call. The balance of the cost is covered under the policy.

Nationwide Home Warranty has several different plans for homeowners and landlords. You may decide to have your appliances covered only, or buy a policy that covers all the systems in the home and appliances. You could also choose a plan to cover major systems only.

Coverage for Home Sellers
This type of insurance coverage is attractive to home sellers, since it adds value to their home when they put it up for sale. The potential buyer knows that they don't need to worry about having to cover the cost of repairs after moving in. When the housing market is tight, any extra features that the home seller can present to a potential buyer may help to move the property sooner. Having a policy in place that will cover the cost of repairs to appliances or home systems is something that a potential buyer will consider when deciding whether to make an offer to purchase.
