Guardian Dental Insurance
From LoveToKnow Insurance
Having dental insurance benefits through Guardian dental insurance can significantly reduce dental health costs. Guardian Dental is actually from Guardian Life Insurance Company, a mutual life insurance company that offers insurance, retirement, investing, education funding, and estate planning services. If you are an employer looking for a new dental plan, or want to start one at your company, investigating Guardian may be worth your while. For employees, signing up for the Guardian dental insurance plan offered at your company can result in fewer out of pocket expenses.
The Value of Guardian Dental Insurance
Adding dental insurance to a company medical plan can greatly increase the value of employee insurance. Because comprehensive plans cover routine preventative dental maintenance, offering the insurance encourages employees to have regular check-ups. This can catch not only dental issues like tooth decay before it becomes a problem, but other health problems like diabetes, eating disorders, and bone loss.
Potential Savings
As with any health insurance plan, savings will occur if employees stay in good health. This means less time off for appointments and special procedures. The lost productivity will no longer happen, and the overall health of employees will rise. Additionally, with the rising cost of medical care, offering dental insurance provides employees with an added value for small out-of-pocket cost when faced with higher medical premiums.
Guardian Dental Insurance Plans
Guardian dental insurance offers several plans for employers to choose from when adding dental insurance to their employee benefits program. For the most choices, contact a sales person near your office. Plans such as a DHMO (dental health maintenance organization plan) or other pre-paid plans are only offered in certain areas. Other Guardian dental insurance options for individuals and families may be available depending on your company’s region.
Guardian DentalGuard Insurance Preferred PPO
With this plan, customers can choose any specialist or dentist. However, by choosing a provider within the network, they will receive the highest benefits provided by Guardian. Additionally, customers will have the lowest out-of-pocket expenses related to their dental care. Over 70,000 locations across the country are within the Preferred PPO network.
Maximum Rollover
Maximum Rollover Accounts (MRA) is a relatively new offering by Guardian dental insurance. With the MRA, DentalGuard members can choose to put an unused portion of their annual maximum into an account. This money can be used when members go over their maximum benefits in future years. In order to qualify for a MRA, customers must put in a claim and not go over their plan’s claim limit that year.
DentalGuard Basic Plus and DentalGuard Basic
Both the DentalGuard Basic Plus and DentalGuard Basic plans offer lower cost versions of the original plan for a more affordable option, or for those who need less dental coverage. Customers can choose and option or customize their own plan. These flexible plans come with the same customer service as other plan members experience.
Whatever your plan is, Guardian can help you find a dental provider near you. You can search for dental providers by your plan, whether it is a PPO or DHMO/prepaid plan.
No matter what your current dental situation is, having dental insurance through an employer is a benefit not to be pushed aside. Signing up for your company’s Guardian dental insurance will help keep you and your family healthy, and save money. For employers, Guardian can offer different packages depending on company size and needs.

FJ,
If you haven't already, I suggest that you send certified letters to both companies, explaining the issue. I suggest that you also copy the insurance commissioners of both Washington and Iowa as well as your employer.
-- Contributed by: SusanWeberI have contacted both the Guardian Group Dental Claims in Spokane, WA (800-541-7846) and Assurant Employee Benefits in Clinton, IA (800-442-7742) only to be told that I need to contact the other. Each company has denied any knowledge of the claim or the manner in which it was processed. I have exhausted my patience in this matter and hopefully will not submit any further claim on my Guardian Group Dental coverage.

To obtain answers about insurance issues you need to contact your insurance company directly. I suggest that you contact Guardian and ask if your claims were passed on to Assurant. The phone number for Guardian customer service is on your policy and on your claim forms or you can obtain the phone number from your employer.
