Cigna Health Insurance
From LoveToKnow Insurance
Cigna Health Care provides Cigna Health Insurance options that cover managed medical, pharmacy and dental services.
Individual Cigna Health Insurance Options
Cigna presents customers with a wide range of health plans for individuals and families. In these days when many people struggle to find health care coverage, Cigna plans focus on the most comprehensive health services for your dollar.
PPO
The Cigna PPO option gives members the right to choose a doctor from the Cigna Preferred Provider list. They can visit this doctor without worrying about getting a referral first. This is called "In-network care" and PPO participants are rewarded with a higher level of benefit reimbursement.
HMO
Customers who choose HMO coverage also have access to outstanding health care. The difference is that HMO is available with lower monthly premiums and a reliable cost structure that lets them know ahead of time how much medical services will cost. The downside is that members are only allowed to seek treatment within Cigna's provider network if they want to be covered.
POS
The POS option offers Cigna health insurance coverage with a distinctive freedom. This option allows customers to design their health insurance coverage. Benefits to this coverage include:
- Individuals decide between in-network and out-of-network care each time they need care
- Out-of-pocket costs are lower with in-network treatment
- POS members are allowed to elect providers
Group Plans
Experts agree that current health care is plagued with inefficiencies, disproportionate administrative expenses, inflated prices, poor management, and inappropriate care and more. The result is a significant increase in the cost of medical care and health insurance. Cigna has a selection of group plans to help employers provide for their employees’ health needs:
- FlexCare Exclusive Provider Program (EPP)
- Point-of-Service Plans
- CIGNA HealthCare HMO options
Health and Wellness Programs
Cigna's wellness programs are designed to help members make informed choices about their health. To accomplish this they provide education, resources and tools to help their customers make the best decisions regarding their health. These programs include:
- Healthy Moms and Babies Program
- Support for chronic conditions, such as asthma, diabetes or back pain
- 24-hour nurse help line
- Discounts up to 60 percent on services such as acupuncture and weight management
Other Health Insurance Options
Cigna is a member-friendly health insurance provider. They realize that each member is unique and so are their needs. With that in mind, they offer additional health care products and coverage supplements. This additional coverage is designed to fit and support a wide range of lifestyles.
The Cigna ChoiceFund Health Savings Account
This option provides customers with a number of ways to save for their health care needs with both tax-deductible and tax-free options. When Health Savings Accounts are combined with a high-deductible PPO, policy rates are kept to a minimum.
Indemnity Option
The indemnity plan option gives members the freedom to visit any provider without choosing a primary care physician. Another advantage is that members don't need a referral to see a specialist. Members pay the cost of the visit and are usually responsible for filing a claim to receive reimbursement. Before being admitted to a hospital, members are must obtain pre-certification for admission. Along with an indemnity plan, members have the opportunity to participate in a Cigna Choice Fund which is an account used to pay for "qualified" health care expenses that are not covered under their medical health care plan. This Choice Fund option can be funded by an employer or by the employee.
Open Access Programs
Cigna Open Access Programs provide specialist care without a referral giving members referral-free choices from their network of specialists. For this program, members are encouraged to choose a primary care physician, but it is not required.
